Ruth M. Clark, 92, of Kalkaska, handed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 whereas surrounded by family members. She was born on July 12, 1928, to the late John and Bessie (Hollis) Kennedy in Ann Arbor. She grew up on the Kennedy household farm in Whitmore Lake which was settled by her great-grandfather in 1835. Ruth graduated as a registered nurse from Mercy School in Detroit and began her nursing profession at Ypsilanti State Hospital in 1949. She married the love of her life Charles Clark on Sept. 9, 1950 at Previous St. Patrick Catholic Church in Whitmore Lake.
She continued her nursing profession at Fort Custer Navy Hospital in Battle Creek earlier than transferring north to Kalkaska in 1953. Quickly after her arrival, Ruth started working at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital on its opening day. After working practically 20 years in Kalkaska, Ruth took a job as the ground supervisor at Grand Traverse Medical Care Facility, later referred to as Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Ruth and Chuck had been founding members of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Kalkaska and attended for over 50 years, the place she was very concerned in church actions. Ruth was preceded in dying by her dad and mom; husband, Charles Clark; her three siblings, Robert Kennedy, Elizabeth Oravec and John Kennedy.
